A manzana is 10,000 square varas, and the vara is not one length: Guatemala’s makes a manzana 6,987 m², Nicaragua’s about 7,042 m², and deeds often round to 7,000. A cuerda is a square of varas, and the side changes by region — the registry uses 25, many fields use 30 or 40. Pick what your deed uses.

Something you can actually use

Someone asked for something they'd actually use, so this page now has a land converter. Type one number and get acres, square feet, square metres, hectares, manzanas and cuerdas — both manzanas, Nicaragua's and Guatemala's, since they differ.

No card file said how big it was

Every card picture here left its own size out, so printing at 100% depended on your software guessing. A Mac guessed 72 dpi and printed the card 713 mm wide.

Todas las imágenes de la tarjeta salían sin su tamaño, así que imprimir al 100% dependía de lo que adivinara tu programa. Una Mac adivinaba 72 dpi y sacaba la tarjeta de 713 mm de ancho.

Printing it
  1. Both pictures here carry their own size now, so 100% gives a card 85.7 mm wide. They are 1100 × 694 px — enough for a card, not more.
  2. For the sharpest print use examples/tierra-card/designs/front_85.6x53.98mm_600dpi.png and the matching back. Those are 2022 × 1275 px at 600 dpi.
  3. Trim 85.6 × 53.98 mm, bleed 87.5 × 55.88 mm.
  4. Print at 100%. Never “fit to page”. That is the one setting that ruins a card.
